Reformed Churchmen

We are Confessional Calvinists and a Prayer Book Church-people. In 2012, we remembered the 350th anniversary of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer; also, we remembered the 450th anniversary of John Jewel's sober, scholarly, and Reformed "An Apology of the Church of England." In 2013, we remembered the publication of the "Heidelberg Catechism" and the influence of Reformed theologians in England, including Heinrich Bullinger's Decades. For 2014: Tyndale's NT translation. For 2015, John Roger, Rowland Taylor and Bishop John Hooper's martyrdom, burned at the stakes. Books of the month. 1 Apr 571 BC: Ezekiel 29.17ff. "Babylonian Will Plunder Egypt"

1 April 571 B.C. Ezekiel 29.17ff. “Babylonia Will Plunder Egypt.”

Ezekiel 29:17-21

1599 Geneva Bible (GNV)

17 ¶ In the [a]seven and twentieth year also in the first month, and in the first day of the month, came the word of the Lord unto me, saying,

18 Son of man, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babel caused his army to serve a great [b]service against Tyre: every head was made bald, and every shoulder was made bare: yet he had no wages, [c]nor his army for Tyre, for the service that he served against it.

19 Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I will give the land of Egypt unto Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babel, and he shall take her multitude, and spoil her spoil, and take her prey, and it shall be the wages for his army.

20 I have given him the land of Egypt for his labor, that he served [d]against it, because they wrought [e]for me, saith the Lord God.

21 In that day will I cause the horn of the house of Israel to grow, and I will give thee an open mouth in the midst of them, and they shall know that I am the Lord.
